Hello,

I am migrating my site from Joomla3 to Joomla4. Maya template version on J3 is 1.0.3. When I upload the J4 version (1.0.0) and try to install it, the system says you cannot downgrade. Apparently it's thinking I'm downgrading the template from 1.0.3 to 1.0.0, without taking into account the fact that they are J3 & J4 versions resp!

How do I fix this issue. Do check the attached screenshot for the error I see when J3-1.0.3 version is active on the J4 system

thanks,
makarand

Hi makarand

I always first migrate Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 and afterwards install the Joomla-4 version of the Template.

Kind regards
Chris

I probably did not explain my situation correctly.

I have already done the migration. On J3, I had 1.0.3 version of Maya template
Now, after migration to J4, I'm trying to install J4 version of Maya. But since it's numbered 1.0.0, the installer thinks I'm trying to downgrade the template and doesn't allow this. If I uninstall 1.0.3, I will lose the customization.

Btw, pls see the attached screenshot of my downloads area. Apart from the word "Joomla 4" in title it seems like the second one is really an older version of template. I assume this is a typo?

If you are an admin, would you mind taking a look at the actual files and see if this is really the J4 version of template?

One of the developers has confirmed that the template did work on a blank J4 site but did not work on my site.

In his words:
"It said I could not install an older version over a newer one (1.0.0 over 1.0.3). I actually changed the version number in the xml file and it did uninstall, but still would not work."

When migrating a website from Joomla3 to Joomla 4 it is sometimes a good idea to delete the folder «templates/j51_maya» and install the template once more. But you are right: your screenshot looks strange, telling us that «J51_Maya - Joomla 4» has been released 18-Sep-2017 and updated 17-Aug-2018.

I am not a member of the Joomla51 team but one of Ciaran's customers. So I think your question must be answered by Ciaran himself.

Kind regards
Chris

Thanks Chris for trying to help. What you say makes sense about deleting the folder and installing the template.

But I'll wait for Ciaran to reply before trying anything further...

Yes, the template is visible when you click on the Home page URL. However, the entire page is not showing up and also none of the inside pages are working. They are giving 404 - category not found error!
Is there something that is still missing?

thanks,
makarand

Hello

Have you since re-installed a different version of your template? The original issue appears to have returned?

No I have not installed another version of the template. I was checking out different configuration changes to fix the issue. I tried disabling sef_urls but the change was not being reflected on the site. Similarly changing the site title or other settings were not getting applied. I tried to take the site offline and now I am getting this error, also admin panel is inaccessible. I am now getting this error on admin page and the same error on the default page. The home page is still working.

Hello

Admittedly some of the described issues would not be related to your template. Can you confirm that you have updated all extensions and plugins to their Joomla 4 versions.

I have cleared your Joomla cache which appears to have fixed the frontend error messages.

Hi,

You are right. Some extensions need to be updated. And thanks for clearing the cache. That action probably got the inside pages to work :-).

Thanks for your help. We'll come back in case of any more help required for the template.

Hello, we published our migration to the live site :eklavya.in but we are facing some issues in the theme. For example : on the Contact Us page we are getting this

https://eklavya.in/contact-us-eklavya
ARGUMENT 1 PASSED TO JOOMLA\CMS\USER\USERFACTORY::LOADUSERBYUSERNAME() MUST BE OF THE TYPE STRING, NULL GIVEN,

And on some pages we are getting misaligned tables :
https://eklavya.in/books/eklavya-books-pdf

https://eklavya.in/resources/worksheets-for-primary-school

Help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
