Problems with thumbsgallery

we need help. we can install the thumbsgallery without problems. but in the settings in line "image directory" the dropdown missed. why? if we type the file with the images in the line, the frontend shows nothing. and on an other side the thumbsgallery works without problems. what do we do wrong?

we had install the thumbsgallery on 6 joomla-51 sites on different server. at first let me say, all thumbsgalleries are working now. but, we must also install the carousel, the slideshow and the grid and then the thumbgsgallery works. but without them it dosn't.
