Hi Ciaran

I bought the brand new Version of J51_Skylar_J4 today. Unfortunately I am not able to install it or to be more precise: make it work.
Installation was successful. But when I open System > Site Template Stiles > J51_Skylar - Default there seems to be an incomplete template:

The «General» tab is completely empty
Also the «Module Widths» tab is empty as well

The Front-End displays an error message «500 behavior::caption not found.»

I tried to delete the previous folder templates/j51_skylar (containing the Joomla-3-version) and reinstalled J51_Skylar_J4 with the same result. I am pretty sure that the installation process did only half of the job it should have done.

Thank you and kind regards
Chris

Hi Ciaran

I got the solution now :-) The PHP settings for «max_input_vars» were too low. After increasing the value significantly the template settings mentionned above could be saved. Everything is ok now.

Thank you so much!

Kind regards
Chris

Hi Chris

Very strange indeed. We have been unable to replicate this issue in any other environment except on your site. Also, Joomla is not returning any console or network errors. Have you made any changes to your database prior to this?

Hi Ciaran

I was not successful doing it by manipulation the database. I opened the table «cke6p_template_styles» then «j51_skylar» then «params». After adding the params I assumed were the right ones, I got a «The server returned a "500 - Whoops, looks like something went wrong.» error. Conclusion: it seems to be better to wait for Ciarans help.

By the way: I found out that the issue is not related neither to Base-2B nor to Base-2C module position. The problem starts as soon as you add the third module override. At the moment we can save one or two module overrides, not more.

Thank you and kind regards

Hi Ciaran

I can add entries for Base-2A (this was ok yet before). But I still can not add entries neither for Base-2B nor for Base-2C. The template immediately closes without saving. But I might try to add the settings directly in the database.

Thank you and kind regards

Hi Chris

This issue should be now resolved. It appears there was an issue with the `Base-2A` entry of your overrides where the saved data for the background image was pointing to an image that did not exist. Removing this entry and we can now add new entries without issue.

This UI element is a Joomla core element that appears to have an issue gracefully handling certain data errors. We will create a ticket on the Joomla repo.

Ok. Do you use menu-item-type «category blog» or «featured articles»? Or is it «Single Article»?

Is this question for me? If yes, the articles are 3 simple single articles

Hi Ciaran

thank you so much. The site seems to be working all right now. But I have to report another issue with this template.

- Open «J51_Skylar» template stile
- go to «Modules Style Overrides» tab
- click the [+] button in order to add a new override
- select position «Base-2B» oder «Base-2C»
- add some parameters (or leave them blank, it does not matter)
- click the [Save] Button

Result:
- The settings are NOT saved
- The template will close immediately although we click [Save] (not [Save & Close])

By the way:
- position «Base-2A» is ok

Thank you and kind regards

on my site "guenther-test.de" SKYLAR works.
This site is just to test Joomla 4 with some extensions like SKYLAR Template Extensions, Phoca Gallery, SIGPLUS, Allvideos etc.

With the new version of J51_Skylar the error message

«500 behavior::caption not found»

is gone. But instead we have a new error message

«2 arguments are required, 1 given»

and the layout is a complete mess. See here: https://tierschutz-steckborn.ch/j4/
I just sent temporary administration access to my Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com

Thank you and kind regards

Deleting the folder /html/com_content/featured does not only apply to the home page. There seems to be a side effect to some menu items of the type «category blog» as well. Astonishingly enough not all category blog menu items are affected.

These pages are a complete mess and there is an error message «2 arguments are required, 1 given»

Über uns > Statistik
Mitmachen
Melden > Aufgefundene Tiere
Melden > Vermisste Tiere
Melden > Tiere suchen ein zuhause
Beitragsarchiv

These menu items are also category blogs but they are all right. I do not understand why.

Über uns > Verein
Über uns > Vorstand
Über uns > Einsatzgebiet
Über uns > Statuten
Über uns > Jahreshefte
Unterstützen
Kontakt
Links

Kind regards

Hi Chris

For now, you can just delete the /html/com_content/featured folder as that is the item with the issue. We are currently working on an update to resolve this issue.

But there were no sidebar items within those tabs! I am very familiar with your templates and I am using a number of them. I swear: those tabs were completely empty. Anyway, they are visible now for heavens' sake.

Menu type is «Featured Articles».

Hi Chris

Thank you for the update.

General and Module WIdths tab will populate once you click any of the sidebar items within those tabs.

On which menu item type is the 500 error occurring? Eg. What is your homepage menu item type?

I have new findings to report:

«1. Delete folder ../templates/j51_skylar/html»
Now the Front-End is doing well, no error message «500 behavior::caption not found.» any longer.

«2. Upload the template again via your Exstension Manager»
The folder ../templates/j51_skylar/html is recreated and the error message «500 behavior::caption not found.» is back.

The reason for the error message must be somewhere in this «html» folder. I guess I can not go on without this folder, since essential features of the template might be affected. Right?

By the way:
The tabs «General» and «Module Widths» are no longer empty, after repeatedly installing the template.

Thank you and kind regards
Chris
