Hello,

I want to force a template width for everything; headers, modules, background images, etc. Is there something I could put into the custom code CSS section to do this? Right now I am working with Valencia, however, I want to do this with others as well and the CSS seems very similar amongst them all.

Thank you,

Jason

Hi Jason

Presuming I understand you correctly, for the majority of our templates a template width can be set within the 'Layout Options' tab of your templates parameters... https://www.joomla51.com/tutorials/item/editing-the-template-width

Hello,

I think, it is analog to Jason's topic and question:

I can control the template width in the setting Layout Option.
It works fine.

But it's of no effect for the navbar and header.
(They stay in full-size)

But they should have the same width like my template width.

Thanks

Michael

Fairmaxx is correct.

Essentially I want to setup templates like Valencia with a boxed framework.

At least I want to be able to control the background image width for each module and I am not sure what CSS controls it.

Thank you,

Jason

Hello

To amend the width of the header and showcase area of your template to match that of your template wrapper try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters where 1140px is the width set in your templates parameters...

#container_header .wrapper960, #slideshow  {
width: 1140px;
}
#slideshow {
margin: 0 auto;
}

Hello Ciarán,

the custom.css works just after input an additional line in the style.php:
$document->addStyleSheet('templates/'.$this->template.'/css/custom.css');

My template-width is set with 1140 px.

My custom.css now:

#container_header .wrapper960, #slideshow, #header {
width: 1120px;
}
#slideshow, #header {
margin: 0 auto;
}

So the header looks good. (with 20px less than the template-width)

But the left margin of the slideshow isn´t correct !!!

I tried to operate with margin-parameters, but I can't find the correct adjustment.

Thank you

Michael

Hello

The content of your custom.css appears to be the following...

#container_header .wrapper960, #header  {
width: 1140px;
}
#slideshow, #header {
margin: 0 auto;
}

Try changing to the following...

#container_header .wrapper960, #header, #slideshow  {
width: 1140px;
}
#slideshow {
margin: 0 auto;
}

Rather than using addStyleSheet, an option should be available in your templates parameters to load your custom.css

Hi Michael

Sorry to say this would not be a template related issue. May I suggest posting your query to the Joomla forums where they would be better placed to offer assistance (https://forum.joomla.org/).
