I have a web site based on the Joomla51 Ashley template. If you go to http://www.longthorpechurch.org.uk/index.php/links on your PC and click on a link, you will be taken to the relevant web site. The same happens with a tablet. But if I click on a link on my iPhone, it does not work. The same thing applies to the facility on the Home Page to put in your postcode and get a route to the church. Using an iPhone I cannot type into the field. I was alerted to this problem by a few people with the same experience (using both IOS and Android phones). However, I asked my son-in-law in the South of France if the links would work on his iPhone, and he said he had no problem. Has anyone come across this problem before and found a solution?

Dear Ciaran,

I am sorry that you have had difficulty in logging in to my web site. However, I am grateful for the CSS fix you have sent me. It works a treat!

I am very grateful for your time on this issue. Many thanks.

Hi Ray

Unfortunately we are still unable to access your administration with the following error....

Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet

Regardless to amend your issue try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters...

.backgrounds {
display: none !important;
}

Hi Ray

Sorry to say we are still unable to log in. I would suggest contacting your hosting provider who should u=quite easily be able to disable magic quotes for you. I would also suggest checking user group of the temporary account account and ensure that it has access to your administration area.

Dear Ciaran,

Yes, I have been getting the same message, but I can still log in. Can you?

I have not had time to sort this out since it appeared yesterday, when Nativespace, who host my site, transferred the domain to a new server. The results of a quick search on the internet yesterday suggested that when a domain is moved to a new server, a new php.ini file is created on the new server, which doesn't turn off the magic_quotes_gpc parameter. When I have time I will ask Nativespace to sort this out for me, but I am about to leave for Devon, as I have a meeting there tomorrow.

Regards.

Thank you Ray

However we are getting the following errors when we attempt to log in to your site...

Your host needs to disable magic_quotes_gpc to run this version of Joomla!

You do not have access to the Administrator section of this site.

That is rather strange. May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Hello, Ciarán.

I am sorry that there was an issue with the web site. It has now been resolved. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have as to why the links in the body of the Links page at http://www.longthorpechurch.org.uk/index.php/links work on a desktop or tablet, but not on an IOS or Android phone.

Regards.

Hi Ray

Could I ask you to check the URL provided as it appears to be giving us a 404 error... http://www.longthorpechurch.org.uk/index.php/links

Thank you for the link to the very helpful tutorial, which I have bookmarked for future reference. But on this occasion I only want a click on the parent menu item to produce a sub-menu. Where there is a parent menu item, clicking on the parent or the first sub-menu item on a PC will produce the same page. There is no separate page for the parent item.

I am, of course, still left with the problem that tapping any of the links in the body of the Links page, or trying to type in the address field on the Home page, does not work on a smart phone.

Many thanks.

Hello

Checking your site on iOS we notice that dropdown menu items are working fine however the parent menu items are not clickable, touching parent items opens the dropdown rather than following the link. To resolve this issue may I suggest the following tutorial... https://joomla51.com/tutorials/item/mobile-menu-linking-parent-items
