how can I rebuild the demo presentation of the London templates. How do I know which modules are assigned to what position?

To re-create the template demo the easiest solution is to use the 'Demo Installer' included with your template download. For details on setting up the template demo installer may I suggest the following article.. https://www.joomla51.com/tutorials/item/setting-up-the-demo-installer
