Use of custom css field vs override css

Hi Clarián
I need more help please. My template custom css field is growing fast with so many adjustments. Is it better to pass all the code to a sort of override css file? What is read last in the css process? That file or the template field? How do you see the need to use the !important statement? Trial and error?

Hello

If you wish you can add your Custom CSS to the end of your templates nexus.css to the same effect as this is the last CSS file to be loaded (../templates/[YourTemplate]/css/nexus.ss).

In an eventual future update of the template that nexus.css file is going to be replaced? Is it better to save the modified file and use it after that upgrade? Any awy I'm used to take notes of all my adjustments and save them together with replaced files, etc.

Yes your nexus.css would replaced if you were to update your template in the future. It is for this reason the Custom CSS field is a better option to store your CSS. Alternatively you can create a new CSS file and link it up using your templates ../php/styles.php..

Most Joomla templates already have a reference to a custom.css file built in. Please add this function to updated and new templates, as it is kind of standard practice.

Hello

As requested we have added a custom.css option to our templates. To avoid excess stylesheets been loaded we have added an option within the templates parameters to enable/disable this feature. For the moment this update has been added to all templates released since and including our 'Privilege' template.
