Unfortunately there is no simple way to upgrade without installing the latest version of the template as nearly all the core files of the template have changed. Your content will obviously remain when you install the latest version however the module position names will have changed so your modules will have to be edited to match that of http://demo.joomla51.com/0072/index.php/module-positions

Alternatively you can list the issues you are having and we will do our best to help you resolve them.

I would hate to give up all this work unless with the newer template I can overcome the following. Since I am a novice Joomla user, please forgive the basic questions.

As you can see, I nearly have everything done, except I was trying to learn how to use the modules on the home page and on other pages. For example, I want to place items in either both the left sidecolumn, and the right sidecolum modules on the home page.

Second, I can't seem to figure out how to place a menu on the clinical staff page so I add a sub menu with links on the right side (in the position of module sidecolumn but on the right.) I have the individual clinical staff profile articles already created and a category for clinicalstaff submenu but I can't seem to figure out how to do that.

I am tempted to blow all the menu work, logo, and slide slow work away and try your updated template but thought I would ask if waht I need is simple enough to just go with this version of your very nice template.

If you wish to be able to display a sidecolumn in both the left and right side of your template on a single page then its probably best to upgrade your template. However if you wish to do this on separate page then you can still use the current template. Simply create a second style of the template (Extensions -> Template Manager -> Duplicate) with the sidecolumn set to the right and apply this page to the menu items you wish the column to appear on the right.

Thanks. I am working on the site as we speak. I am going to try to get this to work but just for clarification. If I have to install the newer template, don't I ahve to de-install or delete the older template and how about the slideshow component?

Yes you must first delete the previous template (Extensions -> Extensions Manager -> Manage).

The slideshow you can leave as it is as the module position name hasnt changed.
