Hello Ciaran,

After hours of trying. I surrender.. :dry: Although I was able to insert Module Sidecol-A and Sidecol-B on the same page of my forum.. I cannot figure out how to adjust the column width of either. I can't adjust it with the template manager.. it's not budging. Please help so I can now learn how to customize the the extension. Thank you..

My site is not online just yet

Hi April

Would it be possible that you are editing a template style that is not assigned to your forum?

May I suggest the following article on our templates 'Layout Options'.. http://www.joomla51.com/tutorials/item/understanding-layout-options

Ciran,

Yes, I thought of that as well.. and looked at both templates.. but i noticed that I'm having the same problem with these columns on my other pages as well. Maybe the question I should ask is .. how to reduce the side margins on the sides which I think are part of the template specs.. I like for my side margins to be minimal. I will check our your recommendation.. Thanks

Hello Ciaran,

I checked your link and I'm quite familiar with this tutorial and have never had a problem using it. How do I reduce the template margins. The template is set at 1080 but there is at least 2" margins on each side of the modules. Thanks

Hi April

By default the margin between the the sidecol-a module position and the edge of the wrapper is minimal (20px). The gap you appear to have in your screenshot is of the distance between the edge of the wrapper and the edge of your browser window. The only way to decrease this is by increasing your wrapper width (1080).

Ciaran,

So this can't be modified in the template css. What do you mean by wrapper 1080px because I already have template width at 1080px.. so this would be container wrapper? Not container_slideshow? Which one? Thanks

Hi April

The wrapper width of your template can be set from within the 'Layout Options' tab of your templates parameters (Template Width field). This will override the wrapper width set in your templates template.css

Hello Ciaran,

OK, I'm confused or I'm confusing you. It's not the template width field because I'm able to adjust that. The template width field is equal to my showcase at this time. The area under the showcase, areas around Module SideA & Module Side B appears inside a container. I notice this on most Joomla51 templates. Down the middle, margins do not flush to far right or far left. This is what I want my modules to do.

There are slider widgets that I want to use that are flushed against the edges ...I really want the option for my entire page to go as far left, or as far right as I need.. Please advise.. Thanks

Hi April

It is very hard to say without access to a live version of the issue. May I suggest getting back to us once your site is on a server and we will examine this further.

Hi Ciaran,

Thanks for keeping up with this for me.. well I won't need to have a live version ..But, we can use the Cashmere demo as an example to explain my concern.. http://www.demo.joomla51.com/

The section "Build Something Beautiful with modules A & B.. the margins on the right and left sides do not bleed to the far left or right. I do not like the 2" margin restriction, too much white space. "In the printing industry we refer to this as open real estate".

After checking Joomla.org others have asked similar questions regarding this specific container.. and the Joomla Masters have provided a couple of responses http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=437994

I need to identify the container to make the adjustments throughout my sites. Again I'm designing from the demo. Thank you.

Hi April

Could you try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters...

.sidecol_a .sidecol_block {
padding-left: 0;
}
.sidecol_b .sidecol_block {
padding-right: 0;
}

This will remove the remaining outside 30px padding from the sidecolumn module positions.

Ciaran,

Unfortunately, I can't get this to work either. I'm using firebug and it's labeled with # When I changed it to this.. yes the words moved to far left and right within their own block, but not to the end of the container. It even shows that 20px and 30 px have been removed.

As I move my cursor over the area I see this <div id="main" class="block_holder">
but I don't know how to manipulate it. I will continue to research.. but of course I appreciate more insight.. Thanks

Hi April

Just to offer you an extreme solution to better understand what you want to achieve could you try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters...

.wrapper960 {
width: 100% !important;
}

Is this closer to what you have in mind?

Hey Ciaran,

So how do I move it over a bit to the right? Do I add some margin space? :) Thanks

Hi April

Are you referring to the side column module? Would you have a URL to an example of your current side column module?
