I have the demo install J4-Layla template.
I created the contact component via the backend. If I send a contact e-mail using the "form", there is NO INFO WINDOW "that the e-mail has been sent!
(The e-mail arrives!) So a visitor does not know that the e-mail arrives.
IF I use the Cassopeia template, the message comes! Is that a bug?

To amend try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters (Extensions -> Templates -> [YourTemplateStyle] -> Custom CSS)....

.message joomla-alert {

    display: block;

}
