Yes this should be possible by simply creating multiple instances of your slideshow. From your Joomla navigation navigate to Extensions -> Module Manager -> New -> [YourSlideshowModule].
The problem is in the responsive options for mobile devices, it is only possible to set up on alternate image for all slideshows, or have I missed something?
The responsive slideshow image option within the templates parameters is an option to allow for an image to be displayed instead of the module position on mobile devices. This option can be used if you are using a slideshow extension that is not responsive.
