Hi Ciaran
I have made a school site - http://www.ysgolcwrt.cswebmedia.co.uk (I had a language query earlier in the build) and it is nearly ready. But the site is slow to load and work with. Being in a rural area our broadband is not always the greatest and the site is simply taking too long. I have also tested it on site speed sites and they agree that it is not just our rural broadband.....and for the most part it is getting a poor load speed ratings.

I have reduced the load as much as I can see to do but wondered if you had any input about speeding it up? I do not have a lot of material on there making it bulky. I have set the cache time to 500 mins - what else would you suggest?

Appreciate your thoughts....thanks.
Chris

Hi Chris

You appear to be doing everything possible regarding your content (images well optimized etc). There is a number of extensions available for speeding up a Joomla site by combining files, minifying CSS, using gzip etc. It may be worth considering one of these extensions. One that comes well recommended is JCH Optimize (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-enhancements/performance/site-performance/12088).

Try maybe doing a before and after with the extension with a site like.. http://gtmetrix.com/
