Why am I getting this mess on slideshow and showing slide 1 of 1 at top? And purple line?

I added another slide and now that repeats underneth 3 times and any slide transition does not work. I reinstalled the sldeshow compoent and have made no changes to default setting. The Joomla version was updated today and I dont know if that had anything to do with it.
