Hi!
After migrating to J4, which in the first runs smoothly, I found, that the original masonry blog was shown in one collumn only. Checking the settings, I changed the linked category and saved. I should have done so! Because then, I faced first multiple errors:

1. The backend entry field for the categroy change its functionality (pic 1)
2. On the Front end a error was shown (pic 2)

3. I then tried to enter the category id (pic 4) in the backend which resulted in a different error message in the front end. (pic 3)

I did already reinstall the template (after deleting the HTML folder)

As an override, I also localized the fonts.

(BTW: Alternative and Masonry are showing the same behavior)

Thoughts on this?

Hello

I suspect that these issues are related to some overrides remaining from the Joomla 3 version of the template. We have just updated the Skylar template, including an update script that removes all old template overrides on install which should (hopefully :) ) resolve this issue for you.

Updating your template to the latest download should resolve this issue for you. For details on updating your template may I suggest the following article.. https://joomla51.com/tutorials/joomla-basics/updating-your-joomla-template

Thank you, Ciaran! But that didn't help.

But it is me, to blame. For some reason, I forgot to deinstall/switch off the old J3 template. that apparently caused the request to be mapped to the wrong "Masonry" or "Alternative" layout.

For those, having the same issue: You could see it also in Picture 4 of the initial entry. There, the link references "layout=j51_skylar_j3:alternative" (I just saw it now :( ).

Hmm. But still: The masonry layout is still a single column. Even though settings are for a 3-column setup.

On top, the category picker for the alternative blog layout still doesn't work properly. You have to enter the category ID manually, to make it work.

I deleted the /HTML folder, as suggested in another forum entry, and reinstalled the template again. There is no custom code, only some lines of custom CSS.

Hi Ciaran,
I saw that you fixed it! Thank you. Can you share what went wrong? I have another Skylar page to update and want to avoid this trouble again. Thank you very much!

Hello

We amended the override to now load the masonry scripts through the Joomla WebAssetManager. I have just released an update for this template with this fix included.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. :)
