SKYLAR for Joomla 4

Hi Ciaran,

I use your SKYLAR template for five (non-commercial) sites. Being very happy with the template, I want to stay with the template for the foreseeable future. But the release of Joomla 4 will be a game changer for the Joomla community. Therefore, I would like to get some more info on how you deal with your templates and the new Joomla version.


  • I understand that Joomla 4 will be released within a couple of days.
  • I understand that Joomla 3.10 will be the migration path toward Joomla 4.
  • Furthermore, I understand that Joomla 3.10 will be supported for (at least) two years in order to allow a smooth migration to Joomla 4.
  • I saw a number of statements in this forum that your templates will support Joomla 4.


What's not so obvious to me: To understand your policy toward Joomla 4, both in terms of timeline and regarding your commercial plans. So there are two major questions:

  • When do you plan to release a Joomla 4 version of SKYLAR?
  • Will your users get a Joomla 4 version of SKYLAR as an update, or will you charge for this release?

When do you plan to release a Joomla 4 version of SKYLAR?

We are currently working on updating our templates to Joomla 4 and hope to have them available to download over the next couple of weeks. We have started with our more recent template releases so our Skylar templates will be one of the first available for Joomla 4.

Will your users get a Joomla 4 version of SKYLAR as an update, or will you charge for this release?

There will be a charge for the Joomla 4 version of the template however considerable discounts will be available for those that have purchased the Joomla 3 version of the template.

Hi Ciaran,

thx for your clarification. I will continue to use Joomla 3.10.x for a considerable amount of time (i.e. six months). This will give me the chance for extensive tests with the J4 version of SKYLAR. Anyway, a number of other extension will need new versions as well.
I will buy the J4 version of SKYLAR. If there will be a discount: Nice.
