I was going over design plans last night with some of my usability consultants. One of them, a young woman in her early twenties, suggested making it possible to "pin" a lot of my articles (to Pinterest, or likewise to Facebook, Twitter, etc.) She said each article should have a "Share It!" logo with icons for Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and Email. She noted that this has become standard in lots of sites and helps a ton with marketing. (Especially for younger site visitors.)

I looked in the template - there is a "social media" section, but it appears this is just specific to linking to the site owner's facebook page, twitter account, etc. Which is also great. But... is it possible by some means to add some kind of "Share It!" functionality and icons to individual articles as well?

HI Carrie

Yes this is very possible with Joomla however you will need to use a 3rd party extension to add the feature. For a list of available extensions may I suggest the following URL.. http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-web/social-share

There is also a number of more 'all in one' type extensions available which would cover every conceivable possibility with your blog including social sharing. An example would be 'Easy Blog" (http://stackideas.com/easyblog). These type extensions usually come at a cost however depending on your project would generally be worth it!
