Is it possible to get the search results on an specific page in stead of in the middel of the front page ?

Sorry to say I don't believe it possible without some changes to core Joomla files. Your search results will always appear within the same layout from where it was called.

Hello Ciarán,

No problem !
Another question : ... can you tel me where I can set (hard) an alternative "read more" tekst. I use a component to place articels in mudule positions wich overides the standard way to do this.

You could try editing Joomlas content language file (../languages/xx-XX/xx-XX.com_content.ini). You would be looking for something like the following...

COM_CONTENT_READ_MORE_TITLE="Read more..."
