Hello,

OK, I've learned a hard lesson, that not all Joomla Template Developers are the same and I've been using or trying to use a template that has K2, T3, no front end editing display button and when I ask they don't have a clue as to what I'm speaking of. Its not as straight forward or user friendly as Joomla51 templates.

So now I am interested in purchasing another Joomla51 template (poss Kaylee) but I need it to override the current template on my site. Can you advise me how to do a clean upload to perform this task? Will I have to worry about any residual elements or code from the former template? Thank you..

Hello

If previously working with a template framework like T3, it would be important to check you have disabled any plugins associated with that framework (Extensions -> Plugins). Other than that is should be simple enough. The only possible issue after that is with module positions. As your previous template most likely used different module position names, you will have to reassign each module to the module positions of your new template. A list of the Kaylee module positions can be found at.. http://www.joomla51.com/demo/0152/features/module-positions . Note that these position names are that same for the majority of Joomla51 templates.

Thanks Ciaran and that's what I love about Joomla51 every template is very straightforward. Also might be a bit biased because I learned how to use Joomla by first using your templates.

So do I just upload the template via extension manage/install or do I have to upload the new template via cpanel/file manager/thetemplate.

thanks.. I'll submit my template question separate..

Hi A

Great to hear that you enjoy working with our templates! :)

You can install your template via your Joomla extensions manager. Once installed you can then assign it via your template style manager (Extensions -> Templates -> Styles).
