 OK, I'm reading all of these posts where people seem to have past the basics which is where I am. Is there no one here that knows how to install the "Privilege" template on Joomla.. I have uploaded the files via Extension Manager.. all I see is a big red screen with some of the characters.. where are the modules? The only thing I was able to do was my url for social media.. Tried to input my logo name, nothing changed.

I really don't need to be further frustrated when I have paid for something and there is no phone support.

Looks like you installed the basic template and it looks like its ok to me. The modules are packaged with the template file and have to be installed as well. If I was at your level I would install the demo installer and then modify the articles etc.

Tony.. thank you SO MUCH for responding. I installed what they gave me.. I downloaded, unzipped the files, extracted them to a folder and uploaded the files on Joomla. Yes, I am new to Joomla, however I have built websites from other site builder programs in the past. I also uploaded the Demo as well, but can't recall what happened. Let me check.. I attached the files I received. Also I realize that not every developer is created equal, however I down & uploaded other templates and everything is fine.. I can see the installer, the modules, etc... And as stated I tried to change the word "Privilege" to my name and it will not accept it.

I just knew I was going to make some headway today building this site.. lord.. Let me see what occurred with the demo installer..

Thanks again for your patience regarding my crazed frustration..

OK, Mr. Tony.. Then I found these files.. which I'm assuming what you might be speaking of as the full install. OK.. but how do I upload? Do I have to open each folder and upload one file at a time? When I click on the main Privilege J51 folder, it opens up and displays these files.. then the same.. I double click "CSS" to upload onto Joomla and it opens up to show it's files.. is there an installer? So confused

You never unzip module files in Joomla go to extensions then extension manager browse for zipped file on your hard drive upload and install. You will get some very basic lessons for free on this site and also some very good free stuff at buildajoomlawebsite.com

Hello,

I did not unzip files in joomla, I unzipped files on my desktop or into a template folder on my desktop. I am also using buildajoomla ???? I am also reviewing 20 videos of Joomla.. it is not the Joomla that I'm having problems with, it is the template. I need someone from Joomla51 to give me instructions on this template. As stated I do not have problems uploading and installing other templates and I can see everything fine.. I sent an email to Joomla51.. even with the forums, and videos they say that not every template developer will offer instructions the same.. and I'm finding this to be true with this one.. I will check what you suggest.. but I need better instructions for this template.. Thanks

Oh forgot to add that when I tried to upload the zipped file, there was an error and the joomla video said I must unzip it first which is what I did.. but it also said I should see an installer or instructions.. which I do not

You are making basic errors. I have just installed the privilege demo installer in 8 min on http://webeasy.ie/priv . I have always received top class support from joomla 51. You need to keep reading and testing this stuff out. When you understand it it will become so easy.

Thanks.. yes, I just installed the demo.. well uploaded the demo. I think I'm going to ask my host for help.. I need step by step instructions.. for example I was just locked out of my administrator login, used Joomla.org and my host and got in. I don't see step by step instructions with Joomla51, detail for detail. I hope they can provide this for me.. Thanks again

Most important is if I pay for something I expect better support and instructions. I've received better instructions from free templates.. just so happened I found a site where I thought the templates were worth it.. but not when I've already spent more than a day trying to get it right.. I'm very disappointed. I would never leave my customers out like this.. and no I don't expect them to go to a forum and try to figure it out, hoping someone will help. This is not good customer service to me.. I'm not sure why I haven't heard from their customer service.. Thanks again

Hello

Joomla templates by themselves can not include any site content. From the above screenshot you appear to have the template installed correctly however on a completely blank site. If this is your first Joomla website I would suggest using Joomlas sample content, an option to install the sample data is available on the 3rd step of your Joomla installation.

Ciaran,

Should there be module template that comes with the template. This is what I have seen with other templates. Modules should also show me where to put the slider, logo, etc., Thanks

Presuming I understand you correctly you are looking for a list of the available module positions on your template. You will find a diagram indicating all the module positions included in your download (../Template Extras/ModulePositions.jpg) alternatively you can see an example of each position at the following URL...http://demo.joomla51.com/0096/index.php/features/module-positions

Ciaran.. thank you very much... I believe this is what I am seeking.. I see that when I click on the menu items, there are explanations.. Maybe I was over looking it.. I stepped away for the day, clear my head come back and try again. I hear Joomla is the best around and I have many websites to build for my biz.. so mastering this or close to it will save me lots of money. Its also very important that my site rise above the competition.. Let's see how it goes.. Thanks again for everyone's help here.. I'm sure I will have more questions..

Hi
I'm also a Joomla newbie and can empathize with your struggles. It's a bit of challenge to learn the Joomla "system" but I think you will find it well worth the time and effort.

The tutorials provided on this site do contain a lot of detailed information regarding using these specific Joomla51 templates. There is information on the Tutorial page regarding the image extension zips provided with your templates which are installed through the Extension Manager in Joomla. Then Images are uploaded through the Media Manager in Joomla.

Adding new content pages (called "articles" in Joomla) and linking to the Menu are basic Joomla. There is a great deal of help available online from the wider Joomla community which can help you learn those functions.

Hope this helps.

Magichour,

Yes, you are correct I have been using Youtube and the Joomla forum non-stop. Over the past couple of weeks I've studied 20 videos and even workbooks.. I see the menu items as I slowly learn I can see the custom changes occurring on my website.. YEA.. I will check out the tutorials on Joomla51.. Oh yes, I was so confused about the "articles" which I still don't understand.. why just not call it "pages".. Extension manager here I come.. I do see images in my media folder... Thanks for your input.. the more the merrier..

When I first encountered Joomla I found that books were helpful.
Joomla 3 Explained: Your Step-By-Step Guide (Joomla! Press) by Stephen Burge would be good.
Also easier to build a website for practice before jumping into a real project.

Rather than a static page as in earlier HTML, a page in Joomla can compromise several articles from various sources (i.e. blog posts and updates, news items, product information). As I understand it, this is why an article is not called a page in the previous sense of the word.
