We recently had a look at a similar issue regarding the linking of the XML file to a couple of modules that went missing.
I have been working on other modules and a similar message is shown inside with an error message "Module XML data not available" inside. How can I get this working properly again.

I have attached some files to give you a clue what I mean.

image1: Looks at a module I was working on that no longer works and shows no TinyMCE Editor in the custom module

image2: Another module I was working on that no longer works and shows the above mentioned error message

image3: Looking at the list of all the modules affected. I am using some of them on this site, but have an XML file problem.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Miguel

Hi Miguel

To resolve this issue you can install the module again via your Extensions Manager. No module settings will be lost.

Hi Ciarán,
I tried that, but the editing part is missing, so I can't drop any scripts there as its not there.
Also for stuff like the custom module, again, no editor.

Should I reload joomla in that case? I'm using joomla 3.8.5

Hi Miguel

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Hello

I have re installed your custom module resolving the issue with this module.

There does appear to be some issues with your Joomla installation. Have you changed database recently? You have a lot of un discovered modules.

I haven't touched the database, or re-installed joomla either. I am not sure how this all began.

I notice that there is an update now due to joomla, would that fix the problem?

The latest update for Joomla is largely a security fix so suspect updating will not resolve your issue.

It is quite a common issue so I would suggest doing a quick search for Module XML data not available.

The reason I suspected a change in database is due to the large amount of undiscovered modules. These are extensions who's files exist but are not listed/installed to Joomla (Extensions -> Manage ->Discover -> Discover).
