Hi
I've actually bought this template and have been using it on our site successfully for the last year. However it appears that with iOS7 devices using Safari the menus no longer drop down as before. Seems to work OK everywhere else that I've tried, including Chrome on the same iPad.
Any ideas?

Hello

Would you have a URL to an example of this issue?

Hi Ciarán

This is our site that is giving us issues - http://www.sirthomasfremantle.org. It should be noted that it's based on the Oxygen template, modified slightly for colours and images but nothing significant.

It appears this is not an isolated issue - googling the problem suggests other templates from other suppliers have also had the problem.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, took a day or two to get our hands on a device running IOS7. Checking on an iPad 2 running IOS7 we are unable to replicate any issue with the dropdown, with the dropdown appearing as it does on previous IOS versions. I was wondering could you detail for us the issue you are having? Is the dropdown not appearing at all or just incorrectly and if so could you supply us with a screenshot?

One issue I do notice is the dropdown for the 'news' menu item been cropped by the screen?

Hi, thanks for spending time on this. The menus aren't dropping down at all. Even if I zoom in and try they don't work. This is on (a school's locked-down) iPad Mini with iOS7 and Safari, although I've also seen the same problem on an iPhone running the same. I'll see if I can find another device with the same set up but one that isn't secured to the school, and do a bit more investigation. Must be something that's changed in the new version of Safari though as it was working perfectly OK before.

Tried it on another iPhone today. iOS7, Safari, same problem.
Still trying to find an unrestricted ipad with the same.

mmm..... just thought to try the Oxygen demo itself on your site.... works. B*gger. Must be something local to the site then.

Oh well, will keep investigating. Thanks again.

To try and troubleshoot the issue try disabling any installed plugins in your 'Plugin Manager'. These can be defined by a 5 digit ID number. Joomla default modules will have a 3 digit ID number.

If you wish you can send temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will see if there is anything that may cause this issue. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Still no joy, it's definitely an IOS7 thing - an iPad without it doesn't have the problem.
Going to debug the javascript over the weekend, see if I can nail it...

Progress.
The problem appears to be in the "menuMatic" code (dropdown.js). It's relying on the mouseenter event which appears not to work properly in mobile safari. I've added a mouseover event for the same button and it works. It's not perfect but it's better than it was....

Hi WallisWizard

I am having a similar issue with the Oxygen template. Would you mind explaining how you added the mouseover event for me? I am not so good on Javascript and would really appreciate quick explanation!)

Thanks in advance

Mmm.... can't PM it seems.

Easiest way is to grab my version of the dropdown.js file from here and overwrite yours:
