Oxygen template, change BG Colour

Dear support
i installed the Oxygen Template and i would like to change the back ground colour. i also would like to change the strip of purple in the background

Could you pls explain the method or the command..etc

The background to our Oxygen template is a single header image (http://demo.joomla51.com/0072/templates/j51_oxygen/images/style1/header.jpg) followed by a tiled image for the remainder of the page (http://demo.joomla51.com/0072/templates/j51_oxygen/images/bg.jpg. Both images can be edited/changed to your own taste including the heights of the images.
