Hi again Ciarán,
One more thing.
See the home page: http://www.indianart.us
The Nivo Slider images attributes look correct to me:
Allan Houser Working with Clay|Read about renowned contemporary indian artist Allan Houser|http://www.indianart.us/index.php/about/about-allan-houser
Dawn|Enjoy this 1989 bronze edition of Dawn, a culmination of Houser's exploration of the reclining female form.|http://www.indianart.us/index.php/allan-houser-art/allan-houser-art/2-allan-houser-works/detail/20-dawn

Buffalo Hunt|Buffalo Hunt|http://www.indianart.us/index.php/allan-houser-art/allan-houser-art/2-allan-houser-works/detail/13-buffalo-hunt-ii-1992-bronze-view-d

War Pony|War Pony|http://www.indianart.us/index.php/allan-houser-art/2-allan-houser-works/detail/87-war-pony-1978-bronze-llown

But I can't get the URLs to work consistently. I tried relative and absolute.

Hi Hope

Adding the following to the Custom CSS field in your slideshows parameter appears to have done the trick..
.nivoSlider a.nivo-imageLink {z-index:99;}
Fast response, Ciarán. Thank you! Yes, that did the trick.

Should we contact the Nivo Slider people?

There appears to be the option in NivoSlider that clicking on the slideshow moves you on to the next slide. This was sitting on top of the images which are linked using the settings in the modules parameters. The above CSS simply moved the linked images above the 'next slide' link. I'm sure there is a more logical explanation for this however I didn't look any further in to it once the solution became apparent.
