Hi! I was looking into using the Category Blog - Masonry on my website and spotted some strange behavior that I don't understand.
I made a new menu item on my live site ( :D ) and used the Category Blog - Masonry type with 2 columns. The other main settings are:

Use Subcategories: All
Category Order: None
Article Order: Most Recent First
Date for Ordering: Published

But the order on the page is not by date, I actually don't recognize the order. And when I set the number of columns to 1 or 3 the order is different. Here is the order of the first 6 articles:

1 column
2021-04-14
2021-04-02
2021-03-04
2021-03-03
2021-02-28
2021-11-12

2 columns
2021-04-14
2020-11-12
2020-10-20
2021-04-02
2021-03-04
2020-10-11

3 columns
2021-04-14
2021-02-28
2020-10-11
2020-11-12
2021-04-02
2020-09-23

As the Joomla settings are okay as far as I see I find this strange behavior, could it be the template?

Thank you Hans

I added a small fix to your blog layout. It was a minor fix (stop unclosed html elements) so dont believe it was related to your issue but maybe just check in case?

The order of your blog should be typical of a masonry layout where items are displayed in order of how you reach them as you scroll down and not necessarily from left to right in rows.

I think that is the issue as we expect the flow to go left to right even if the rows are jagged depending on image and title size.

Thanks for the reply and having a look Ciaran. :)
I still think the order still is not as expected as you look at the dates (from this page)
14 april 2021 12 november 2020
20 october 2020 02 april 2021
04 march 2021 11 october 2020
03 march 2021 23 september 2020
28 february 2021 11 may 2020

It's the last ten articles added to my site so that is correct, but the order is not as I would expect it to be. (I've put the dates in a code block for aligning them a bit)

Hello

Just to confirm that I understand you correctly, of the 2 following examples, which one is your preferred order?..

Example 1.. https://codepen.io/littlesnippets/pen/30c8b514e0f7184c096279cf89e5c88e

I'd be good with 1 or 2 so long as the new are at the top and left to right. :)

I think both would do but I have a slight preference for example 2 since you also scroll down and notice a new item quicker when it pops up in your view.

I thought I spotted a message from you @ciaran about looking into the site again but now I'm home I can't seem to find that. But the account provided earlier is active again if needed.

Just following up if there is any progress on this. I'd like to get this off my To Do list from the client.
Many thanks :)
