Hi mates, hi Ciaran,
some days ago I installed the Nocturne template on a new server under Joomla 2.5.9. Till now, I never had big probs with running or modifying a template. (After some mods on Endeavour it run perfect.) But with Nocturne I've got one big prob:
The language switcher won't work. I installed the plugins, but anyhow the lil flags won't come up nor I can define a language specified homepage to start up. (Once I found a hint here in this forum, where somebody fixed it with running different templates for each version. But really, I didn't understand it how they did it.
Can you guys please give me a hint or recommendation how to do that? I mean, how can I implant a language switcher for the site?
:woohoo: thx in advance.

Hello!

Creating multiple styles of your template, each with a different menu set and then applied to each individual language is one option for creating a multi language site however you are probably more familiar with the standard way of doing it using multiple menu modules, one for each language. This can still be achieved with your Nocturne template by simply converting the top menu area to a module position. You will find an option to achieve this in your templates parameters under the 'Menus' tab. This will convert the top menu area in to a module position called hornav, allowing your to create your multi language site as normal.

Thank you for the advice. That works fine now, except one lil prob:
some of the menue entries "fall down" from hornav. For the de-menu there are 6 of 7 in hornav, for en-menu there are 5 of 7. (Check the img I attached.)
I feel really screwed right now, cuz I stuck into this. As we say, I can't see trees in front of the woods.
Do you have a tip what to do now, please ?

Greetz - btw. it starts snowing here. :silly:

News: It doesn't matter which module (language or menu) has priority, when both are in hornav it won't work as expected. Is there eventually a way to fix f.e. the menu module to the left side and the language module to the right? I admit, I'm not into this stuff.

Hello

Your best option may be to create a separate module position for your language flags as the hornav area can only really handle a single module. To do so we have created a tutorial which can be found here.. http://www.joomla51.com/tutorials/item/creating-a-new-module-position-in-the-header-area-of-your-template.

Hope this helps

TY Ciaran,
I been thinking the same way, too and put it in a bottom module. A 1st primitive site is online now, anyway better than the old html site. Check it out, if you like.
