Hello,
I'm interested in the news module because it's very nice, but I have a question.
Can I select the items only by Article category or also by Article ID.
Kind Regards | Olaf
I took a look. I can only find a category selection. Unfortunately not by ID...
That would be a good suggestion for improvement

Hello
Thank you for checking the news module to see whether a selection by article ID is possible. I'm sad it's not possible because it would be exactly what I would need for our club's new website. Especially because the news module is also visually very beautiful. I don't know whether it would be a lot of work or even possible to expand the news module so that a selection via article ID would also be possible? Maybe Ciaran can say something about whether he could expand the news module like this and how much it would cost?
Kind regards | Olaf
Please excuse my bad English.

Hi Olaf
As mentioned, I am sorry to say that the News module only has the option to select the source by category. We never considered adding the option to select by article ID. As with the core Joomla news module, the expected workflow would be to create a category and then add the articles of your choice to that category.

Hello Ciaran, thanks for your reply.
For me it would be important to be able to select articles by article ID. When selecting by item category, all items in the respective category would be displayed and I don't want that. I have sorted all the content on our website by category to keep a good overview. But I only want to display individual articles as featured articles. Could you expand the news module accordingly and how much would that cost? The expansion of the news module does not have to be exclusively for me but for everyone who buys the news module.
Kind regards | Olaf
Please excuse my bad English, I have to use google translate

Hi Olaf,
I solve this problem with a special category for News. So I can display all articles of that category in my news module (up to now, I don't use Ciaran's module).
When those news are no news anymore, I move them to the category, where they systematically belong to.
This approach will not force you to select by article ID.
Regards
Rolf

Hello Rolf,
Thank you very much for your answer. Your solution is very interesting. I'll test this locally in the next few days to see whether I achieve what I want to achieve. I hope it shouldn't matter to Google if the article is later moved to another category. The link to the article remains the same I think?

Hi Olaf,
I can confirm that the URL of an article doesn't change if you move it to a different category. The decisive criterion is the article alias. As long as you don't change this, the URL will stay the same.

Rolf
PS: I'm not a native English speaker as well. And Google Translate has become pretty good.
