Menu problems - make submenu disappear

I dont know if this question is in the right place here:
I want to hide submenus, but if I change that setting to NO in the module parameters, it makes no difference. submenus keep on showing. I thought maybe change hornav menu to module, but then the whole menu is just a white stripe with no clicking possible. I really have no idea where to start. Strange enough that with this website I also cant change any configuration settings. Anyway, I hope someone has a useful tip for me...

I use the Habitat template: example here: http://www.hunyuan.center/

Update: I found a solution for myself. I just created a hidden menu. Still dont know why the module parameters didnt work, but with the hidden menu I found a good solution. Thanks anyway!
