On mobile devices, the lifestyle template doesn't let you choose a parent item, but merely displays its child menus. (This is Chrome on Android devices.)
If you long-press the parent item, the browser puts up a box asking what you want to do with that item, such as opening it in a new tab.

Is there anyway to adjust this? I don't want to turn on "don't show children..." on larger devices.

Hello

Presuming I understand you correctly you could try setting the following in your templates ../templates/j51_lifestyle/js/responsive-nav/responsive-nav.js to true which will leave the parent link text clickable (open dropdown by clicking the remainder of the button)...

allowParentLinks: true,
