Hi:

I'm using the Layer Slideshow in the Renovate template. However the navigation arrows are not appearing.

Please help.

Thanks!

Hi Lisa

Have you since amended this issue as prev/next options appear to be now displayed on your slideshow?

No. I haven't done anything. On Firefox and Chrome there still are no arrows. I've even cleared by cache and browsing history. I keep trying to add files to show you a screenshot but the system tells me the files are too big... they are only 500KB.

Hello

Following is a screenshot of how we are viewing your slideshow (Chrome & FF).. https://gyazo.com/25543b8ba1dc397d61cb888cb2b6e045

As this is not a Joomla51 module and we are unable to replicate the issue, I am sorry to say it is very difficult for us to offer any advice. Have you considered contacting the developer of the extension?

Um no... the Layer Slideshow I got from Joomla51. It is part of one of your other templates when I downloaded... Ashley, I believe. So the developer is you. I don't know who else to contact.

On both my computer (mac) and my colleagues computer (pc) the arrows are not appearing in any browser. We have cleared our browsing history.

Is there any way to send you a screenshot? Your forum is not allowing me to upload any kind of image of any size. It keeps saying exceeded size limit.

My apologies... so it is!!

Are you able to see the arrows if you remove the following from your templates Custom CSS field....

#container_slideshow .wrapper960 {
width: 100%;
}

ok - problem solved! sharing so others might find this useful.

so I did a little more digging and comparing. When I used Firebug I found out (looking at the CSS) that the arrows were actually using font-awesome. So then that led me to go look at what is included in each template. Renovate doesn't include font-awesome but Ashley (the template that also included the layerslideshow) does include font-awesome. So then I compared the actual files between Ashley and Renovate.

I copied over the fonts folder from Ashley AND the font-awesome.css by uploading via FTP to my Renovate template folder. I put the font-awesome.css inside the template CSS folder.

After that, I went into the Template Files in the back end of Joomla, opened up php>styles.php and added:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/<?php echo $this->baseurl ?>/templates/<?php echo $this->template?>/css/font-awesome.css" type="text/css" />

The last thing I did was make a small adjustment to the CSS so the arrows would be centered top to bottom.

All fixed! :)

Ah excellent. I suspect we may have been loading Font Awesome from cache which would explain why we were unable to replicate the issue.

Thank you for the update and for sharing your solution to the forum! :)
