Re: Layla template.

Hi,
I'm updating a site from Joomla! 4.1.5 to Joomla! 4.2.1
The pre-update check says the Layla template and other Joomla51 extensions need to be updated? Please see screenshot.

Regards,
Colin. Screenshot-Layla-update.jpg

Yes I reported this yesterday midday also. No reply yet. Download server isn't showing actual updated template releases.

Hello all,

today I updated around 30 sites with J51 templates on J4.
I am not quite sure where Joomla gets this version numbers from but I ignored them (there is only a V1.1.5 of Layla no V2.x).
I backuped the site, did an update to 4.2.1 and no problems at all. And this with all ~30 sites I updated.
Only 5 overwrites had to be checked and they where all fine.

Maybe this helps for your decision? :D

Regards
Oliver

Hello, I also have some pages with the Layla template in the Joomla 4 version - the update always gives an error message - only in the Joomla installations where I used J51 Layla.
maybe Is there a solution for me too?
Greetings Alex

Hi Alex,

this error is not very specific ;)

If this error occurs I try updating manually.

On the update site under the normal update button there is a button with Upload and install (or similar) oder "Hochladen und installieren" auf deutsch.
Before you use this go to joomla.org and download the current update package (not the full update only the upgrade package).
With version 4.2.1 it's https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla4/4-2-1 - for example the Joomla! 4.2.1 Upgrade Package (.zip) - you have to scroll down a bit to find it.
Then go to your upload area on your site and click that upload and install button.
Then choose the file and then you must re-enter your login data. After that the update should run.

For me this helps in most of the cases. I haven't had the time to choose the error reason, maybe someone else knows it :)

Hope this helps.
Regards
Oliver

Hello Oliver,

Thank you for your help - I have already found this method. However, I would like my customers - some - to update their site themselves and then it should just be the "simple" variant, since most have no idea, time and desire to download the file and integrate it manually.
would be nice if you could fix the error :-)

Best regards Alex

Hello

To resolve this issue try navigating to System -> Update -> Updates Sites from your Joomla administration and click Rebuild.

Hello Ciaran, I tried following the instructions System -> Updates -> Updates Sites and then pressed Restore - unfortunately this was unsuccessful.
Is there another possibility?

Hi colors4life

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Hi ciaran,

i wrote an email. It would be nice to know what caused it, because I have two other websites that react the same way - also with a template from joomla51.
best regards Alex

HI Alex

Thank you for the access details however this appears to be for an env that is already using Joomla 4.2 so the error is no longer replicable.
