I asked the similar question one week ago. No answer. Users could run in serious problems without an information on this.
Is here somebody who feels responsible to give an answer?

I guess Ciaran is busy working on Joomla 5 compatible versions ;)
In the download area it says "Joomla 4" and not "Joomla 5" everywhere. I think we have to be a little patient.

Hi Team (Ciaran),

Encountering an error after upgrading website to Joomla 5.
Website was working fine in Joomla 4 using Emani template.
Hosting provider looked into the error and stated that it could be related to template.

See attachment.

Ed

In principle, Joomla 4 will be supported for another two years. Nobody has to quickly switch to Joomla 5 now. I assume that the developer is working on the implementation for J5.
Basically, everyone can first check whether their server and website support all the basic requirements for Joomla 5...

(Logically, a short information here would of course be good for us)

I really hate the way Joomla depends on version specific templates. After a miserable failed attempt to upgrade from Joomla 3 to 4 I do not even consider updating to Joomla 5.
I'd rather switch to another platform than going through all this hassle again.

@webnechkt clearly your information is false. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion

I think he meant to phrase the sentence as a question ;)

1. Very simple: I updated the Site https://www.kerschbaumerhof.com to J5.
Hope you can read the sourcecode.
2. I updated 3 other Sites to J5 with Haley. Also without problems.
If you have problems: Backup your Website. Check if your hosting meets the requirements (DB and PHP) for J5 and disable one third Party Extension after the other. Don‘t forget to empty the cache each time. Joomla51 extensions make no trouble.
3. Update from J4.4, not from an other version
4.Use Update Server "Joomla! Next". Do not install Joomla 5 manually over Joomla 4.4. (e.g. with FTP), as otherwise the database will not be changed as necessary for Joomla 5.

Hello

I see no reason why templates should have any issue with Joomla 5. Changes in Joomla 5 largely focus on removing depreciated code and namespacing with fields and xml which should have no bearing on the frontend at least. There is some frontend issues with namespacing but these should not be an issue once you have the Behaviour - Backward Compatibility plugin enabled. We will be resolving these issues in a future round of updates.

I've tested the templates mentioned here (Emani, Layla and Nina) with each templates demo content and I am unable to replicate any issues.

wicklert Is your issue present on all menu item types? Is the issue present with the default Joomla template? Is the issue present if you disable all modules and 3rd party plugins.

Hi Ciaran,

Can't answer all questions because I restored the website and building again on v4.4.0.
I didn't had the issue using Joomla default template and that's why I raised a ticket.

I will wait for a while before updating Joomla to v5, it's better to wait until all is stable.
You can close this ticket.

ciaran I'll try with backwards plugin enabled. If it happens again perhaps I can send you the .jpa so you can see the issue.
Do you have a rough eta on the J5 release?

I have no ETA at the moment but as the updates required are minimal, I would hope these changes can be applied with the next update of each template.

In the meantime, the b/c plugin can be used (enabled by default).

Hello all,

I use Skylar_J4 for my sites. All of them have been upgraded to J5 (with the b/c plugin enabled) without any issues.

Regards

If you are on J4 then popping up to J5 (provided your hosting is all good) is no issues.
