I'm ready to begin the process of migrating my clients' sites to Joomla 4. To update a J3 template, can I just install one of your Joomla 4 templates using the extension manager to overwrite the old template or must I rebuild the entire site from scratch using the new J4 template? What procedure do you recommend? Please let me know. Thanks.

Best regards,
Mort

Hi,

I would like to know this too.
Just to add, are existing Joomla51 extensions compatible with Joomla 4, or do they need updating separately?

Regards,
Colin.

Hi Colin / Mort

Once you have updated your Joomla installation to Joomla 4, install the Joomla 4 template and bundled module extensions. This will update your template and extensions to be compatible with Joomla 4 while retaining all instances and settings.

Hello, I have a question on the same subject. I had installed the full site (there was a demo installer) as well as the database. Do I just install the version 4 template in my site after the update? Best regards

Hello

Yes you just need to install the Joomla 4 version of your template and any J51 module you are using.
