Migrating J51-Willow J3 to J4
Getting this error on the front end.
0 - Cannot access protected property Joomla\CMS\Menu\MenuItem::$params
Backend is working properly.
Saw 2 other post about this, but the solution was not given.
UPDATE: I extracted the J4 Kaylee template installer and upload the files in the folder html > mod_menu to templates > j51_willow_html > mod_menu
It started working.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark
Have you installed the Joomla 4 version of the Willow template? This type of error is quite often related to running a Joomla 3 template on Joomla 4.

I installed what you posted.
I think you are right. That is why I uploaded the files from the J4 template I do have working. There are other issues too.
J3 and J4 downloads have exact same name: J51_Willow_unzip1st.zip
Just extracted the installer and the templateDetail.xml says version: 1.0
Same for the admin - template styles

Hi Mark
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Could I ask you to redownload your Joomla 4 template and try again. Hopefully this should be now resolved

I am getting the same error (0 - CANNOT ACCESS PROTECTED PROPERTY JOOMLA\CMS\MENU\MENUITEM::$PARAMS) when I am upgrading my website from Joomla 3.10.12 to Joomla 4, but I have the HAYLEY template. I redownloaded the Hayley 4 version, but still get the error. When I change to Cassiopeia template, I don't get the error.

Hello
May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

I went back into my Joomla51 account, made sure I downloaded the “Hayley for Joomla 4” template and reinstalled it and all the modules in the Joomla 4.x install folder. I still get the error. See http://whitecountylibraries.org/new . You might want to make sure you have the right one being provided in my downloads section on your site.
You can login at http://whitecountylibraries.org/new/administrator with the credentials I provided the other day. If you have trouble with the Firewall, can you just email me the correct template to try installing?

Thank you Wendy
Could I ask you to allow us access to your Extensions Manager so we can update your template?

I emailed you an admin login on the 27th. Is that not working to allow you to the Extensions Manager? Is the firewall asking you for a password before the actual login screen? Try again if that was the problem.

Hello
We are able to access your administration however the user provided does not appear to have access to your Extensions manager.

My apologies. I had set it to "administrator" and didn't realize that wouldn't give you what you needed. I have raised it to "Super User" so please try again.

Were you able to login after I set your login to be a Super User? I need to get this resolved.

Bummer you are having to wait.
Assuming you have the correct template version, delete this folder on your server:
/public_html/templates/j51_haley/html
then re-install the template.
Refresh the front end and see what happens.

I'm afraid that didn't work, and yes, it is the most recent version. Here is what I did:
1. Using cPanel, File Manager, I deleted the folder you mentioned.
2. I logged in the /administrator backend and went to System, Extensions Install and uploaded the Joomla! 4.x Install Files/j51_hayley_j4 zipped template file.
3. I went to the frontend at https://whitecountylibraries.org/new/ and got the attached error.
Thanks for trying, Pappy. I hope Ciaran will respond soon. He is usually very prompt, so I'm not sure why this has taken over a week.

Worth a try. Had to do that on several sites I migrated.
That is different than your previous error page and it does look like a template issue.
Do wish they used joomla update system for templates.
Let us know the fix.

Hello
Apologies for the delay in resolving this issue. Strangely it was only today I noticed there was some modules that had not been updated to the Joomla 4 version. All should now be ok?
