Hi Ciaran
I hope you're well.
I'm using J51 news on a few sites now as I prefer this simple approach to the overly-complex extensions such as EasyBlog.

Just one question from me: I'd like to add a bit of boiler plate info at the bottom of each post saying who the poster is and what they do - this doesn't seem to be working at the moment - I've set up a module and published it to the "blog" page, but nothing shows.
Is this something you're intending to develop at all?
Many thanks
Liz

Hi Liz

Would you have a URL to an example of your module?

Hi Ciaran

Well, I can't show you the module on my page because it won't work but what I want is similar to this page https://hotforsecurity.bitdefender.com/blog/even-with-the-latest-ios-12-update-your-iphones-lockscreen-is-unsafe-20410.html
At the bottom of this page there is a section "about the author" and then a bit of bio about him "graham cluley is a blah blah blah"

This is my blog at the moment, https://lithify.co.uk/blog/8-blog/36-life, there's nowhere to add an "about the author" section unless I manually code it every time (which is tedious!)

Hello

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Thank you

Your News module appears to be working fine. Presuming I understand you correctly, you wish to add an 'about the author' block at the end of every single article? By default, this option is not available within the core Joomla content component.

Will the author always be the same for your articles?

Hi Again,

At the moment, the articles are all mine although this may change over time with other members of the team writing their own stuff, it's a pretty common suggestion to have this kind of "about the author" section - do you think you might add the functionality in the future?

Hi L

Have you considered using a plugin to add this feature? Some like https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/author-info-box/ ?

Hi Ciaran
I've looked at that plug-in but it looks kind of clunky, and the backlinks to the developer won't help me with SEO - I created a module to go at the bottom of the post, is it not possible just to insert this in some way, as would be possible with a normal item?

Many thanks

OK, but then the author info would display on every single page (which is totally undesirable), I just want to be able to add author details to the bottom of blog posts - it's pretty standard functionality in most blog tools?

Hi L

That post appears to affect the author layout which means it will only appear on pages where the show author option is enabled.

Regardless you may also wish to consider using one of the following blog components which I believe include this feature...

https://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extension/authoring-a-content/blog/easyblog/
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/rsblog/
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/zoo/
