J51_Layla_J4_1.1.9: Google is unhappy

Hi Ciaran

the website in concern seems to be working perfectly (for human eyes). But Google keeps reporting

«Page is not usable on mobile devices»
- Text is too small to read
- Clickable elements are too close together

The screenshot provided by Google Bot for Smartphones does in fact look completely unusable:

I am not sure if the cause of these errors is the template or J51_LayerSlideshow. There might be another reason. But I am unable to find it. Any hints?

Hi Chris

This particular issue is commonly caused when Google does not access your sites stylesheets. Do you have a robot.txt and does it include the following..

Disallow: /images/

Disallow: /templates/


If yes, try removing them.

I checked the robots.txt. It's the Joomla default robots.txt and neither /images/ nor /templates/ is disallowed. There is only one clue to the robots.txt file. It concerns a JCE plugin at the very bottom of the list. But I think that this file is negligible. There are so many other errors:
