Hi Ciaran

it seems as if custom.css is not being loaded. It is here: /httpdocs/media/templates/site/j51_kinvara/css and the option «Load custom.css» is set to «Yes». But in the Front-End, nothing happens. As soon as I copy the css code to the «Custom CSS» field of the Template settings, it works.

Thank you and kind regards
Chris

Hi Chris

Did you update from a Joomla version before 4.3.x? Then try to put your custom.css to the "old" location: /httpdocs/templates/site/j51_kinvara/css. But no guaranty!

I had similar issues with SKYLAR_J4 template (s. https://www.joomla51.com/forum/skylar-j4-issue-with-custom-css).

Hi Rolf

moving the custom.css file to the «old» location might work. I just wanted to report this issue to Ciaran, because there is a note
If you find you have a large amount of Custom CSS in the field above, you can copy it's contents to your templates custom.css (../media/templates/site/[YourTemplate]/css/custom.css) with the same effect. Ensure to first enable the custom.css option below.

in the template settings. I am hesitating to try your solution, since using the «Custom CSS» works as well.

My impression is, that the decision of the Joomla team to change the location for saving CSS files
- old: /templates/template_name/css (Joomla 3.x)
- new /media/templates/site/template_name/css (Joomla 4.x)
is causing a lot of trouble all over the world and I do not really see an advantage of the new path.

Thank you and kind regards
Chris

Hi Chris

You're not completely right in stating that in J3 the file has to be under /templates/..., while under J4 it must be in /media/templates/....:

- I found out that sites migrated from J3 via J4.0 (or 4.1) to 4.3.x expect the custom.css under /templates/...
- Sites created under 4.3.x expect the file under /media/templates/....

Again, see my post https://www.joomla51.com/forum/skylar-j4-issue-with-custom-css.

Regards

Rolf
