Try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters...


.external {
background-image: none !important;
}

You will find the Custom CSS field within your templates parameters.. from your Joomla administration navigate to Extensions -> Template Manager -> J51_Metropolis -> Custom CSS, paste in the CSS above and click save.
