I have set up a clean install of MAMP and Joomla on my localhost and attached the Florence template, to test and understand it, before going live.
The only thing I have configured was to activate the Registration in the Login module.
From there I tried to get the Sideshow to work - successful installation but can't get it to work. When i try to view the site it is completely blank.
I deactivated the slideshow and tried instead to load a simple image onto the front page. No success here either. I'm sure it is all configured in the Styling tab found at Extensions | Templates | Edit Styles, but I must be missing something because nothing seems to work. I just know it's something really simple that i should be able to figure out. Is there an image module that I've missed or is that built in?

I have to add that I am in no way an expert at Joomla but most of the time I can figure out how to get it to function - this has got me stumped though.
Can someone out there give me a clue.... ...thanks

Hello

Just to confirm that I understand you correctly. Your Joomla installation displays a completely blank page in the frontend? Is this issue present if you enable one of the default Joomla templates (Protostar)?

Correct - When I load in the Slideshow module the installation shows a completely blank page - the page is also blank if I revert back to the default template (Protostar).

Thanks

Hi Mike

Considering your frontend is blank regardless of your template would indicate that this is not a template related issue. Try disabling any 3rd party modules and plugins and see of that resolves the issue.

Hi Ciarán
Have to agree with you that this is not a template issue. I have gone through and disabled all the modules and plugins (one at a time until they were all disabled) to no avail. Still a blank screen. Today I will do a fresh install of joomla, simply attach the Florence template, install the slideshow module, and see what happens. I will keep you posted on progress.
Thanks

Hi Ciarán,
Well the fresh install seems to have fixed it - the slideshow is now running as it should. I can only imagine that I incorrectly changed some configuration or other, which has resulted in the blank screen. Anyway, all's well that ends well....
Thanks for all your help (I rather figured it was something I had done).
