Hi

I have your Clarity template and have been building a large site. I've been testing IE9 using simulation mode in IE10 but one of the directors of the company has sent screen shots of the site in IE9 in windows 7 and it is really broken.
I know it is something I am doing but I can't find what it is. The client is upset with me and I'd really appreciate some help. Part of the problem is that I've been trying to make some changes for mobiles and those modules are showing up in the page as well in IE9. I'm a bit worried that it might be happening in IE8 as well because I have only tested this in simulation mode again in IE10.
You help is much appreciated and I can give you login details if necessary.
URL is http://www.crescentwealth.com.au/ and it is in IE9 that the problem exists.
Kind Regards
Brett

If you want to see what it should look like, it displays correctly on all Mac browsers and also Chrome for PC

Hi Brett

We have tested your site across a number of browsers including IE9, Chrome and Firefox and are failing to see any difference between the 3. Would you have a screenshot of how you are finding your site displayed in IE9?

Thanks Ciarán,

I'm attaching a screenshot.
When I look at the site in IE10 running IE9 simulation I don't see any difference either but if I run IE9 on Windows 7 I'm seeing it.
thanks so much for your support.

Just as a guide, my logo isn't showing and the navigation (which is in the breadcrumbs bar) isn't being pushed down the page to where it normally sits. Below that (and further below where I've given the screenshot), any item that I've put in the responsive stylesheet for mobile devices is also showing up in the page (whereas they aren't in other browsers).

Hi Brett

Hard to say for sure when we are unable to replicate the issue (IE9). Some possible suggestions would be to replace your slideshow with the J51_Slideshow (http://www.joomla51.com/extensions/j51-slideshow-light-responsive-slider) which is less likely to cause any conflicts with other extensions. Also check if the issue remains if you disable your Maxi menu.

Thanks Ciaran,
I'll try what you suggested.
Could you tell me if you have tested in IE9 on Windows 8 or &? And was it IE10 running in IE9 mode or was it a native install of IE9?
That might help me to inform the client.
Thank you
Brett

Sorry, that question was supposed to be Windows 8 or 7?

Hi Ciaràn,

I've been trying to track down the problem and I think it could be to do with some Javascript errors that appear to be in the template (but let me know if that isn't the case).

First one is:

Uncaught ReferenceError: MenuMatic is not defined

This seems to be caused because a file called dropdown.js isn't on the server.
In the error it says that it is at the following location....
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
/templates/j51_clarity/js/dropdown.js

But all I can see in there is a file named dropdownpoo.js
Cute name but can you help me with this. I think it could be the source of my IE9 problems.

There are also these 2 errors that could be contributing and which are also making my site fail validation...

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 (Bad Request) http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Arial,%20Helvetica,%20sans-serif

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) http://www.crescentwealth.com.au/templates/j51_clarity/css/.css

Could you help me by either telling me how to modify the template so that it doesn't call these or it calls them correctly or by sending me the files for the dropdown.js and .css file and helping me update the template so it calls the right location for the Arial font?

Thanks very much,
brett

Hi Brett

May I suggest sending temporary FTP access to the template folder of your Joomla installation and we will resolve these issues for you.
