HTML in introtext J51_News grid

The introtext of articles shown in J51_News grid layout contains HTML (line breaks) but in front-end the whole text appears as one long sentence. I've tried h-tags, div-tags et cetera but no form of styling changes the way it looks. HTML is not stripped but just not displayed.
