First of all let me say sorry about the multiple forum posts. I am new to Joomla and web design.

I am trying to customize the search results page. Current when you search for something, in the results page you get the slide show and various other modules. You have to scroll down to see the results. How can I configure it so that the results page only displays the top menu and the footer?

No need to be sorry. We are here to help. :)

1: Create a new Menu Example: Call it Hidden. Click Save.
2: Where all Menus are listed you will see a heading called Linked Modules. For this menu note you do not need To add a module for this menu type. This menu will not be displayed on your site now.
3: Create a New Menu item of Type Search.
4: Now Joomla will automatically use this Search Menu item as the display page for your search results.
5: If you do not want a Module to be displayed on the Search Page, Example: your Latest News Module then simply open the latest news modules and under Menu assignment make edits as required. The Hidden Menu you created will be listed here along with all other menus.
