On the main menu I have a few dropdown list that is very long. I would like to break that down to 3 equal columns. Currently when you hoverover the menu item the submenu goes all the way down the page.

Hello

Sorry to say there is no option available with the template to place sub menu items in to multiple columns. One possible alternative is to break your sub menu items down in to sub sub menu items (dropdowns with the dropdowns). This can be achieved by setting the parent item of a menu link to a menu item already in a dropdown.

:( That might be a problem. I really cant put them into submenus. It is going to be our phone directory organized by Departments. We have about 25 Departments. Can you install a different menu system?

You could try one of the 'megamenu' extensions available. Popular choice appears to be the following... http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structure-a-navigation/menu-systems/drop-a-tab-menus/26488

This might be beyond my scope of knowledge. any way possible you could integrate that and send me a new demo install. I wish I could give you access to the site but it is a cooperate internal site. Not on the world wide web.
