Hello,

For the 1st time ever I will be trying to make a working website, so please bare with me a little and my "noob" questions.

I installed Joomla 2.5.7 via CPanel on my hosting site.

Installed Evolution template and all is working well, now I would like to install the Demo.

Questions:

1) On the demo installer setup guide, it is mentioned that I need to copy the Zip files to the root of the server, how will this affect what is already there?
The reason I ask is, there's an old site that was never finished by the previous company owner and will be replaced by the Evolution version, but, there's also the company email server, which cannot be "touched".
Afaik the Demo installation will not affect this, correct?

2)The guide also says it will install Joomla 2.5, but I already have that installed via Cpanel, is it safe to copy the contents of the the demo zip file to the root? will I need to reinstall Joomla from the one in the zip file? How will this "interact" with the previous installation?

3)Not so important for now but, my idea is (if possible) to build the main company site using the Blue layout since it matches the company logo better, but, the company also deals with high performance automotive consumables, (AGIP and Slick50) which all have red logos.
To differentiate the quality control part from the consumables part, I was thinking of "building" the whole Consumables part of the site using the RED layout of the template.
Would this be possible?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Ricardo

PS: Please, if something was not clear enough let me know.

Hi Ricardo

1/2). Considering you have already a copy of Joomla installed I would suggest importing the 'Demo Content' rather than using the demo installer. Importing the demo content brings in the content from the demo in to your current Joomla installation. Although this will replace any content currently within your Joomla installation, it will not effect anything outside of it. Just be careful that you are working with the correct database within MyPHPAdmin.

3). This should not be a problem. A second style of your Evolution template using the red layout can be created within your Template Manager which can then be applied to the menu items of your choice. Alternatively you can create a second Joomla installation within a new folder on your server.
