Emani J4: maincontent area not collapsible?

Hello Ciaran,

I have in mind that the module areas of your templates are collapsible in case there is no content in it.
So when in top-1a to top-1f only top-1a is shown - as long only this postion contains a module.

But the maincontent area isn't collapsible, right?
If I am not using an article on a webseite only modules, there is a more or less larger gap between modules on upper maintcontent position and lower maincontent position because maincontent always has some padding.

I added an url to an example page, where this is obvious.
It's the gap between the upper read more button ("Weiterlesen" in German) and the word "Bürgerengagement".

Can it be an idea to change this in upgrades of the newer templates? For example to check if there is an article in use or not and disabling .maincontent class?

Hi Oliver

It is somewhat tricky as Joomla is very much based on each menu item being based on a component. A workaround however would be to create a template style assigned tp menu items in which you wish to hide the component area and add the following CSS to the Custom CSS field..

.maincontent {

    display: none;

}

Hello Ciaran,
thanks for the answer.
This would be a great idea if I do not want to use the component area on the whole website but thats not my intention ;)

I only wanted to point at this class .maincontent.
My idea was: if you would check in the templates if the component area is not used, than do not write this class.

But it is not so important that I would say its an issue or bug. It was only an idea :D

I normally do not work like this and have an empty component area, but sometimes it is a possible constellation.

Hi Oliver

Although not very dynamic, you would create a template style with the suggested CSS and then apply that style to just the menu items which you wish to hide the component area.

Admittedly not the most perfect solution but is a somewhat work intensive workaround if needed :)
