Why bother to backup your site, what could possibly go wrong???

Well, like many of you I'm pretty sloppy at backing up, I have always had a photographic memory, but I have started to notice, sometimes I apparently have run out of film.

Luckily, last week I watched some Utube and the guy said that we should backup often. ALSO lucky for me, I decided what the hell, why not do it. In 20 years of having web sites, I can't remember when one blew up and died. BUT 2 days after I backed up an important site, low & behold, I was telling a friend to check out my great site, and they informed me that it didn't come up. WTH, I had just looked at it, but sure enough it was dead. I had no idea what had happened BUT since I had a backup, I restored the site and all was good in 5 minutes.

I really didn't want to have to recreate that site.

SO, I'd recommend that you back up the sites from time to time. Unlikely, but God, just might decide that you need a wake up call.

Our hosting service had a server go down and they had to restore the server. I nervously waited to check the websites we have with them and thankfully everything restored properly. I have Akeeba on my sites - backing up is one thing, do you have a downloaded copy stored as well?
