Hi Ciaran,

Hope you're enjoying your summer!

My site, built using the Clarity template, is not displaying correctly on my mobile. The site has 3 columns on every page. The mobile version is compressing all content into one long column. The Hornav is not displaying and navigation using links throughout the body of the page is hit or miss. When it does change pages, I get an error message which I've attached.

The URL is http://www.ilmentoring.org/.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Help!?

Thanks... Dianne

PS -- I have emailed login credentials for the back end.

Hi Dianne

Enjoying the summer alright.. least our version of it!)

Regarding the layout would you like your site to be viewed on mobile devices as you see it on your desktop (with 3 columns)?

Hi Ciaran,

Glad you're enjoying your summer!

Yes please. Can you let me know if it's something I did incorrectly or if it is something I neglected to "turn on" that made it display in one column?

Thanks... Dianne

Thank you Dianne

I received your details via our Gmail account.

I have disabled the responsive layout via your templates parameters. This will mean your site will appear on mobile devices as it does on your desktop. Let me know if this is a suitable solution for you.

Hi Ciaran,

Thanks again for the resolution of the display issue. I didn't realize that the responsive template parameters, when turned on, would cause the single column display. The site is now appearing as it does on my desktop which at this point is preferable though not ideal because it's very small. It's my understanding that if I wanted it to display larger, I have to go to the one-column display or strip down the site to create a mobile version, correct?

One last question... Do you have any documentation you could share regarding what effects the "switches" return when turned on/off? Specifically, what effect should I see if I enable the responsive layout but turn off just the top1-2-3 modules but leave everything else on; or turn off just the sidecol modules but everything else on.

It would be helpful to know if I played around with it, what effects it would have.

Thanks again for helping. As always... you ROCK!

Hi Dianne

When you enable the responsive switch, the template will display at the resolution of the device it is been viewed on as well as loading the templates responsive.css. The problem with 3 columns is on small screen devices (eg. 330px wide) there simply is not enough room for 3 columns, each column would end up just one or two words wide. Hope that makes sense (",)

Sorry to say at present we have no detailed documentation, definitely something for us to put together in the near future. Each of the responsive switches allows you to turn off certain module blocks on small screen devices (eg. phones). So for example in your case you could set the sidecolumn modules switch to off and these modules will disappear once viewed on your phone. The same can be done for each row of modules, each switch disabling the entire row.
