I'm getting ready to start building a few more sites, and so have been reviewing template demos with consultants to select the best template. (All Joomla 51 of course! :) Far and away, the favorite template for my next site, among all my consultants was "Renovate." However, 2 of them experienced the same difficulty with the template - they had difficulty finding the menu.

In investigating this further, I found that both of those who experienced this difficulty had Macbooks with smaller screens. So when "Renovate" pulled up, it appears that it defaulted to a size on those screens that was to small to display the dropdown menu, but too big to reveal the responsive "Menu" icon - so it just appeared as blank space. We were able finally to see the dropdown menu again by manually expanding the size of the image, dragging from bottom corner. Or, we could find the "responsive" menu by making the screen smaller. But, both consultants were mystified and put off by this at first - by not being able to see a menu, and therefore not knowing where to go in the site.

In experimenting a little - it appears that 1) In the "not-Responsive" option this problem doesn't occur; and 2) other consultants using PC's or larger Mac's didn't have this problem. I really want to use Renovate, as it is utterly beautiful and perfect for my content - but am nervous about new users not being able to find a menu, which is core navigation for my site. I assume I'm fine if I just unclick "Responsive?" Or, do you have any other thoughts or suggestions about this?

Hi Carrie

Thank you for bring this to our attention.

We have just amended our Renovate template so the mobile menu kicks in just as the default menu disappears so a menu should be now available on all screen size.

Thanks again for flagging this issue as we were totally unaware of it!

So glad to hear it - thanks for fixing it! It was the one hesitation my team had in using this otherwise extraordinary template. I'm delighted that it's now resolved!

That being the case ... Should we as users download and input the template file again to use the template with this correction? I'm guessing yes?

You might want to double check the disappearing menu anomaly on other templates as well. As I recall, we ran into it on several templates. My major interest was Renovate so I didn't note the names of others. But as I recall, on her small MacBook we ran into milder versions of this problem on a few others too.

Keep up the awesome work. No one does Joomla templates better than you! :-)

HI Carrie

Yes simply installing the template again via your extensions manager will apply the update to your current template. No style settings will be lost when installing the update.

We will definitely be going through all our templates over the next few days and will amend this issue where present. Thanks again! :)

Success! I just downloaded the new version of Renovate and installed it. Sure enough, no more disappearing menu!

Thanks again for your quick resolution on this! :)

I am having a similar issue. If I resize my window on my browser, the mobile menu does not appear. I downloaded my theme on July 28, 2014. Is there a fix?

Thank you

This issue has been resolved by disabling jQuery in your ARI lightbox extension. JQuery is already loaded by Joomla.
