In reading the tutorials online, I noticed that you have a "Demo Installer" available. Which could be useful to refer to in finding info like I've asked in my prior question on this Forum. So often as I've worked on my Grafik site, I've wished I could peek into the back end of the Grafik demo to see the settings for this and that - so I could just replicate settings, rather than having to ask how to reproduce this or that feature of the demo.

But, it looks like this is just for a fresh Joomla install, not for sites already loaded. Or am I missing something here?Am I correct that the Demo Installer is essentially useless to someone like me with a Joomla Install and website already in process? Or am I misunderstanding?

Hi Carrie

Yes the 'Demo Installer' is best suited for a new install of Joomla as it is basically a copy of the Joomla install package with the demo content included as part of the sample data.

If you just wish to use a copy of the template demo to examine its settings, a popular solution is to set up the 'Demo Installer' locally (on your own computer). It is easier than you might think :)..

You can follow any of the many tutorials out there for setting up Joomla locally except you will be using the 'Demo Installer' included with your template download rather than the default Joomla install package.

http://docs.joomla.org/J2.5:Use_Joomla!_on_your_own_computer

Note: Ensure to select 'Default English (GB) Sample Data' under 'Install Sample Data' on the 3rd step of your Joomla installation to import the demo content for your template.

Hello, I have tried to follow your advice to install joomla on my personal computer using the demo for the PianoForte template. I've arrived at the Joomla page where it does the actual Joomla install, but it has been " Installing sample data" for 45 minutes and the progress bar at the top has not moved. Would you know what the problem is? Thanks.

Hello

It is very difficult to say when running a localhost. Are you having a similar issue if using a standard Joomla install package (http://www.joomla.org/download.html)? The 'sample data' step should take no more than 2 minutes.

Hello

Is this the same database used in previous attempt? If so try creating a new database for your Joomla installation or dropping all current tables from your current 'aquaac' database.
