How do I remove the grey

background behind the slideshow when using the Clarity template and J51_slideshow.

Presuming I understand you correctly try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters...

    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);

}
