Hi,

I'd like to know if images in slideshow can be resized to fit the site when responsive feature is on. When on mobile the images are currently cropped.

Test: http://www.new.papermakeit.com

Many thanks.

Hi Claudio

Sorry to say the Autson slideshow currently used on your site is not responsive hence why the images are cropped rather than resized. One alternative is to use our own J51_Slideshow as seen on some of our more recent template releases (http://demo.joomla51.com/0099/) in place of the Autson slideshow which is fully responsive. I have made this extension available for you to download as the following dropbox URL.. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/69136519/J51Slideshow_unzip1st.zip

Hi Ciaran,

after testing dozen of slideshows (half of them not fitting my needs and the other half not working on Arkadia template) I finally think to have found the right mod but even this not working on your template.

This slider is similar to Autson one but is responsive. I tested on beez5 template and it works perfectly on my site. If I switch on Arkadia template I see the box but not the slides inside and the box doesn't resize properly like in beez5.

Can you please help me in this?

Test site: http://www.new.papermakeit.com
You still have the admin access.

Many thanks.

Thank you

I am not familiar with the slideshow you are using however it seems like it may be a javascript conflict. It may be worth installing Easy jQuery (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-enhancements/performance/jquery-scripts/18327) which can help resolve any conflicting javascript issues.

Dear Ciaran,

I hope you are not suggesting your customer to find a Javascript conflict somewhere in some codes...

I tested 12 robust responsive slideshows in your responsive professional template and none of them working properly. I tend to believe the conflict is generated inside the template itself and I'm not supposed to dig inside your code to set up my site.....

I have only looked at your JF Slideshow but taking this extension as an example you have a number of modules loading different versions of jQuery. As there is no option within this extension to enable/disable jQuery I was simply suggesting Easy JQuery as a solution to ensure only one version of jQuery gets loaded.

The template itself does not load or use jQuery.

Dear Ciaran,

I deleted the whole installation and reinstalled it again. Now there is ONLY your Demo installer and JF SLideshow.
The slideshow works perfectly with the standard template while there are jquery errors in Arkadia template.

Error console by Firefox says:

Timestamp: 8/19/2013 8:56:30 AM
Error: TypeError: jQuery(...).skitter is not a function
Source File: http://new.papermakeit.com/
Line: 282

Timestamp: 8/19/2013 8:56:30 AM
Error: TypeError: $$(...).cerabox is not a function
Source File: http://new.papermakeit.com/
Line: 558

These errors are not listed in a standard template.

Many thanks

I opened the source code of the main site page and there I found that noconflict function forced the use of js dolder from Portfolio extention provided with Arkadia template. After disabling it the slideshow works.

There are still some issues with tje conyainer because the height is not resized proportionally to the width. Any clues?

Many thanks

Hello

Are you referring to your sideshow? We have checked in both Chrome and Firefox and this slideshow appears to be proportioned correctly across all screen sizes?

On my PC the ratio is regular. On my mobile in every browser the container doesn't resize. It's a pity because finally I have a responsive template with a responsive slideshow....

I tried an iphone simulator and the result is like in my device: stretched images... I attached the print screen here.

Any ideas?

Hello

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email

Just to confirm the issue is related to the template and not the slideshow could I ask you to see if the issue is still present when you use one of the default Joomla templates.

Dear Ciaran,

I sent you the admin account.

Yes, in a standard template everything works smart and even more fluid, without any strange added effects.

Many thanks.

Hello

Your slideshow uses jQuery to inline style the image sizes as you reduce the browser window similar to that of our own J51_Slideshow. For some reason this appears to be only working for both height and width when the window is resized but when the slideshow is loaded in to a smaller screen size the height remains the same as the full size slideshow. You can replicate this by resizing your browser window and hitting refresh.

I have spent some time at this and have been unable to find any solution. Template CSS or javascript does not appear be the cause and I have also tried a number of other possibilities with no success. I realise the slideshow works with the default Joomla template however this is not responsive so does not test the issue.

I'd strongly suggest going to the extension developers as they would be more familiar and should be an easy fix.. http://www.joomfreak.com/forum/categories/joomla-extensions/jf-slideshow.html

Dear Ciaran,

thank you for your effort. I'm spending all this Summer to set a new site just only for this damn slideshow...

I installed their responsive template (JF Vihrea) and tested their slideshow (mainmenu position). It seems to work anyway.

It seems there is some sort of conflict somewhere...

Just as last chance: can we add a custom css to force the slideshow window to have the height fixed?

For example:

@media screen and (max-width: 480px) {
.slideshow_container {height: 150px !important;}
}

Adding one of this for each main width we could have a workaround. Just a thought.

Many thanks

Yes this should solve the issue for you. You would have to add media queries for both mobile phone portrait and landscape. For landscape the following should work for you...

@media only screen and ( max-width: 767px ) {
#mod_jfslideshow_wrapper, .box_skitter img {
height: 220px;
}}

And then for portrait try the following...

@media only screen and (max-width: 440px) {
#mod_jfslideshow_wrapper, .box_skitter img {
height: 150px;
}}

You may have to edit the height slightly in each. Let me know if this works and is a suitable solution for you.

Nope, it doesn't work. Maybe it is a different container to be forced...

Sorry.. a slight mistake on my part. I have added !important to both properties and it now appears to be working correctly.
